Operational Area
VF4 Western Port is the only Coast Guard Flotilla in Western Port. The flotilla cover all areas of Western Port itself, including the coastal passage from Point Nepean to Refuge Cove, up to 15 nautical miles off-shore. This is approximately 1,200 square kilometers of water.
Resources
The flotilla currently operate two rescue vessels, our primary vessel is berthed at the Western Port Marina in Hastings, our secondary vessel is on a trailer, stored in Hastings but able to be launched all around Western Port and Port Philip where required.
Primary Vessel: RESCUE301 is a 10.5mt custom built Noosa Cat with 2x Suzuki 300hp outboard motors. RESCUE301 is the first vessel to be acquired by the State Government and supplied to a Volunteer Marine Rescue organisation. RESCUE301 is fully a fully equipped rescue vessel with fire fighting capacity.
Secondary Vessel: CG204 ‘Sealite Rescue’ is a 6.5mt custom built mono-hull RHIB powered by 2x Suzuki 100hp outboard motors. CG204 is designed as a rapid response vessel, and has capability to access shallower areas of Western Port as required.
Tow Vehicle: CG404 our tow vehicle is a 2016 Ford Ranger.
Radio Coverage
VF4 monitor VHF16, VHF Repeater 21 (Western Port) and 27.88mhz on weekends from 0800 – 1700. VF4 will open the station at 0800 directly followed by a local waters forecast. Vessels wishing to logon can call the flotilla during these periods, outside these periods radio calls should be directed to Marine Radio Victoria.
