Club Marine supports the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard
Club Marine, Australia’s largest provider of recreational boat insurance, is proud to announce that it is now an official sponsor of the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard. In addition to its overall sponsorship of the national marine rescue organisation, Club Marine has also thrown its support behind the AVCG’s forthcoming “MAYDAY” campaign, which aims to raise much-needed funds for the AVCG.
“Both organisations share a common interest in marine safety,” said Club Marine CEO Simon McLean. “The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard provides a safety net for Australian boaters and similarly Club Marine provides support for the great Australian boating lifestyle and in particular for our members in times of need. We see the sponsorship as a natural extension of the aims and activities of both organisations.
“Club Marine is extremely proud to support the work of such a great organisation, whose volunteer members give so selflessly of their time to help boat owners enjoy their outings on the water in safety,” he added.
AVCG National Commodore, Ray Campbell echoed McLean’s comments and welcomed Club Marine’s support. “Australian Volunteer Coast Guard is proud to be partnering with Club Marine, an official sponsor,” said Campbell. “Both organisations have a passion for the marine environment and the boating community. Through our partnership with Club Marine, Coast Guard can further support our volunteers in the delivery of marine rescue, education and training.
Marine safety is our priority. Our volunteers selflessly give their time to help mitigate marine incidents through education and training.
“We look forward to the community support through donations to the Club Marine MAYDAY campaign. Donations can be made at www.mycause.com.au/events/mayday. All donations over $2.00 are fully tax deductible,” he said.
The term “MAYDAY” is an international distress message used in marine and aviation operations.
The MAYDAY campaign’s official title will be the Club Marine Australian Volunteer Coast Guard MAYDAY Appeal and will be launched on May 2. It will continuemthroughout May and June to raise awareness about the organisation, recruit volunteers and raise funds towards operations through its flotillas in six states and territories.
Club Marine’s support will enable the AVCG to carry out its important work, including marine operations activities such as radio monitoring, safety patrols, vessel assistance and tracking and search and rescue operations. In addition, the AVCG carries out important public education initiatives, including basic seamanship, coastal navigation and marine radio classes and boat licence courses.
